When I was giving AM (5 yrs old) her good-night kisses and hugs, she wanted to kiss like Zolushka (Cinderella) & Prince. I told her that we don't kiss like that. She asked: "So why do Zolushka & Prince do?" I answered, that this is how husband & wife kiss. After a bit of consideration, she made a very, very amused face and asked: "Do you and Aba kiss like that?" I answered: "Yes. But this is private, so we do it in private and discuss it in private." After a bit of consideration, she found it even more amusing and a bit funny and proceeded to give me kisses on my cheeks and nose.
Ok, now dh & I are laughing stock in the eyes of our 5-year old daughter.

A side point: Dh tried Google Chrome and wasn't impressed - it kept on crashing.
I painted purple last night. Took some pics last night and a few - today. New pics begin here:

Today (the last day of my vacation) I'm going to finish the windowsills in the girls' room and in the kitchen and we're done with painting until I find paints for S's room.
It is only 9:30 am, but I already patched up both windowsills and plan to paint them after the gym.

In honor of the Birthday/ New Year of the Trees, I made a banana smoothie and a fruit salad with granola and sour cream. Yammmmm.
Dh liked the banana smoothie with grapes (in it) and loved the fruit salad.
S. loved the banana smoothie but set the fruit salad aside "for later." "Later" didn't arrive yet.
NS liked the fruit salad, but set half of it aside for when "she is in the mood of it." Her salad is still in the fridge.
AM didn't like anything and requested plain canned peaches.
I just finished all the leftovers and wasn't surprised when the scale took its' revenge Sunday morning with 131 lbs. (It's only 42 days till the wedding!)

On Friday AM & I painted the wall next to her bed green. It was supposed to be purple, but AM announced that she doesn't want purple next to her, and that she really likes green. She also said that she is a frog, and frogs live in green swamps, so the wall next to her bed must be green. Since it matches with pink and purple that were planned for the room, dh & I decided that a green wall won't kill the overall design.
We also painted all the door-posts and wall stoppers upstairs and the dirty walls stand out in all their horrendous splendor against the shiny clean paint. And I wasn't planning to paint the hallway upstairs at all.... I guess I will be looking out for more "Ooops!" paint - I need about 3-4 buckets of the same colour.

I am planning to paint another 2 walls in the girls' room (pink!) on Sunday.
P.S. 2 people stopped by us today. Neither one of them noticed anything (specifically, the front hallway and the kitchen). Even the fact that the door-posts are different colour went right over their heads. I am insulted!

RUSH: I penned a message to Obama that I would like to deliver now. Because Mr. Obama, I think it's time we had a heart-to-heart talk. Let me be the father that you never had or never really knew, because I think you need some guidance. It's time to man up. It's time to grow up. That speech last night was an embarrassment. You couldn't focus, you lashed out in all directions, you refused to accept responsibility for your own actions, and you were angry.
And he was, folks! He was mad. Being president is a big job. It's a big responsibility. You wanted the position, Barack. You campaigned for it. You told the public to trust you with it, and they elected you -- and you're now president of the greatest country mankind has ever known, and yet you act like this was all coming to you, like you deserve it, that you're better than the people you are supposed to serve and that you have no tolerance for debate or dissent. That's not the way it works as president, Barack. We have a Constitution, we have checks and balances, we have separation of powers, we have states -- and most of all, we have the people. You don't get to impose your programs and policies on the nation and the people without our consent. .........

When dd's Class finished learning Alef-Bais, they all came dresses up in a costume of somebody/something that begins with a letter, assigned by the teacher.
They had some junk and showed their costumes off to the kindergarten classes, other Pre-1A and 1st grades.

They are a cute bunch of girls!
P.S. AM is Laila.
P.P.S. Am is soooo much better today! B"H. She ate a little in the morning, the fever is gone. She is weak and looks sick but comparing to how she was yesterday, it's a world of difference!

AM has silent pneumonia - seen only on x-rays, but not detectable in any other way. Poor little girl.

I was diagnosed with exercise induced asthma, got a tetanus shot and my arm hurts,
S is getting glasses (nearsighted),
NS had developed nearsightedness in addition to her eye tracking difficulties,
AM has a bacterial infection of an unknown origin (we're going to take x-ray of her chest today).
Both today and yesterday were practically killed by spending time in the waiting rooms of various doctors....
And the girls' room didn't get painted yet. *sigh*

I love Oops! paint - $5/gallon - what is there not to love? Especially when it's the colour that you need!
Since I began my painting project, I always visit the "Ooops! Paint" rack in the Home Depot. This is how I found the great shade of off-white, that graces our kitchen walls now.
And this is how I bought pink & purple paints for the girls' room. They're thrilled. Now I want to bring S. to the store on Sunday and see if he likes the matching green and blue that were there. Even though his room doesn't need painting, I think I can splurge $10 on him. (Hopefully, the paints will still be there).
As kids were begging me to help me paint, I am doing the hallway tomorrow. If we'll be done in one day, I'll paint the girl's room on Monday. (Hooray for midwinter vacations!)

My husband just took and passed the Patent Bar.
If you know of any Patent Lawyers or Patent Agencies who are hiring or can help my husband find a job in the NY-NJ-CT area, please let me know. (He has Masters in Mechanical Engineering.)
Thanking you in advance.

Each school year has its unique lessons. During this school year I found out the following:
A FAST AND EASY WAY TO DETERMINE IF YOUR MATH TEACHER DOESN'T LIKE YOU
~ your math teacher reprimands you for talking
~ your math teacher doesn't let you eat in class, even though it's against school rules
~ your math teacher threw out your snack after warning you several times that she will do so
~ your math teacher doesn't let you have your hot chocolate in class
~ your math teacher reprimands you for not bringing your textbook to class
~ your math teacher asks to see your homework for the past 2 weeks
~ your math teacher sends a note to your parents, telling them that you do not do your work
~ your math teacher asks you to do additional work in class
~ your math teacher sends you to the principal's office when you refuse to do your work
~ your math teacher sends a note home, telling your parents that you failed a test
~ your math teacher makes you sit by yourself when you talk to your friends
~ your math teacher doesn't explain something you don't understand, even though you never bothered completing your work on that material
~ your math teacher doesn't explain something you don't understand b/c you missed a class and did not bother making up the work
~ your math teacher doesn't answer your question when s/he's in the middle answering your classmate's question
~ your math teacher asks you to wait with questions until s/he is done explaining new material
~ your math teacher doesn't give you full credit for "almost" correct answers on the test (even though your middle school math teacher did).
If you answered "Yes" to one or more of these questions, run out of the classroom at the end of the lesson, bawling: "The math teacher doesn't like me!" throughout the school hallways.
At least this is what one of my students does.
Oh, and to top it all off, she claims that her school used the same textbook in 8th grade (she's in 9th now) and she got over 90 on the final. She is failing miserably in my class. Her explanation to this phenomena is that she doesn't understand how I teach and the way her 8th grade teacher taught her, she did well. So, during the last test I told her to solve it using whatever method she is comfortable with. She got whooping 48.5! *sigh*
What I really want to do is to see that final!

I received this via e-mail and, unfortunately, cannot give credit to the wonderful person who wrote this.
Thu, 7 Jan 2010 A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a compass, a slide-rule and a calculator.
At a morning press conference, the Attorney General Eric Holder said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-Gebra movement.
He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.
'Al-Gebra is a problem for us', the Attorney General said.' They derive solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values. They use secret code names like 'X' and 'Y' and refer to themselves as unknowns, but we have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country.' "As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, 'there are 3 sides to every triangle.' "
When asked to comment on the arrest, President Obama said, 'If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, he would have given us more fingers and toes.'
White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the President. It is believed that the Nobel Prize for Physics will follow.

В детстве (по словам мамы) я часто говорила: "Когда я была взрослой...." Cross: http://community.livejournal.com/govoryat_deti/2217089.html ===================
