Be aware: hidden administrator account!
Windows XP (both Home and Professional versions) have a "hidden" administrator account.
The built-in Administrator account is hidden from Welcome Screen when a user account with Administrator privileges exists and enabled. In Windows XP Home Edition, you can login as built-in Administrator in Safe Mode only.

Ok, to restore the system we go on Monday!
As I'm thinking of it, I don't think it will work. Simply b/c when I did try the password that should have worked for the hidden Administrator account, System Restore took me to C:\WINDOWS promt instead of restoring the system.
